Aleš Boem and Valérie Jurčíková Present 3D-Printed Sunglasses at Prague Fashion Week
Aleš Boem for Valérie Jurčíková
Product designer Aleš Boem developed two sunglass collections for Czech fashion designer Valérie Jurčíková, presented during consecutive editions of Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week. The first collection, "Gravity is Optional," debuted in April 2026 alongside Harper’s Bazaar, while the second closed the SS27 runway programme on September 7, 2026. Both designs were 3D printed and developed in parallel with the garments rather than sourced as styling accessories. Boem utilized local manufacturing to accelerate production, reducing development time from three months for the initial line to three weeks for the subsequent collection. The April styles featured a sport cat-eye design referencing 90s aerobic culture, incorporating Hoya Sensity photochromic lenses that clear indoors and darken outdoors.
