FTC Seeks Public Comment on Extending Contact Lens Rule Information Collection
FTC Seeks Input on Contact Lens Rule
The Federal Trade Commission is seeking public input on a proposal to extend the information-collection requirements of its Contact Lens Rule for three additional years. Published in the October 14 Federal Register, the notice addresses prescription release, patient confirmation, electronic delivery, verification, and recordkeeping obligations. The current Office of Management and Budget clearance expires January 31, 2027. The agency estimates annual compliance costs at approximately $134 million, requiring about 3.22 million labor hours split between prescribers and sellers. This action concerns renewal under the Paperwork Reduction Act and does not propose changes to the underlying rule. Comments are due by December 14 via Regulations.gov under docket P145403.
