The Federal Employment Agency reported increased figures for the optical sector's labor market in October 2026 compared to October 2025. Registered unemployed opticians rose by 11.6% to 705, while total job seekers in the field increased by 8.3% to 1,132. Concurrently, reported open positions grew by 10%, reaching 937 vacancies from 853 in the previous year. Despite higher unemployment and job seeker numbers, the demand for skilled professionals remains robust, with available roles significantly exceeding the count of unemployed opticians.
