German Opticians Authorized to Conduct Mandatory Vision Tests for Professional Drivers

Effective August 18, German optician businesses are authorized to perform and certify the mandatory vision examinations for professional drivers. This regulatory expansion covers driving license classes C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE, and D1E, as well as licenses for passenger transport. The Central Association of German Opticians and Optometrists (ZVA) characterized the change as a significant professional-political success and clear legal recognition of their optical and optometric expertise.
