ZVA demands stricter controls on non-EU eyewear imports
Brillenkauf im Internet: ZVA fordert strengere Kontrollen bei Importen aus Nicht-EU-Staaten
The Central Association of Opticians and Optometrists (ZVA) has called for more consistent market surveillance and effective enforcement of regulations regarding corrective eyewear imported directly from countries outside the European Union. While corrective glasses are subject to the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR), significant challenges persist in controlling these direct imports via international online platforms. The ZVA emphasizes that consumers must be able to rely on all purchased corrective eyewear, whether from local optical shops or foreign online sources, meeting European safety requirements.
