Persol Releases Limited-Edition PO3416V Optical Frame Inspired by Olivetti Lettera 22
Olivetti’s Historic Lettera 22 Typewriter Inspires Persol’s Latest Eyewear
Italian eyewear brand Persol has released the limited-edition PO3416V optical frame, a collaboration with typewriter manufacturer Olivetti. The design honors Marcello Nizzoli’s 1950 Lettera 22, featuring handmade cotton acetate construction and metal nose bridges with radial engravings mirroring the typewriter's internal mechanics. Key details include customized Meflecto flexible stems and Arrow hinges incorporating Olivetti’s “O” insignia, along with temple tips finished in red to evoke the original ribbon. Available in Black, Havana, and Brown Gradient (1259), the frames come with collector’s packaging. Currently sold through Persol flagship boutiques and persol.com for $562 USD, this release highlights shared heritage in Italian industrial design without altering standard optical functionality beyond aesthetic customization.
