French Start-Up OOmade Announces In-Store 3D Printing Platform Deployed in 1,000 Optical Stores
In-Store 3D Printing: French Start-Up OOmade Says It Has Put Frame-Making Machines in 1,000 Optical Stores
French company OOmade states it has installed 3D printers in approximately 1,000 optical stores, enabling eyecare professionals to manufacture frames on-site. The platform, marketed as a "workshop on your sales floor," includes six services: OOframe for custom PETG frames compliant with ISO 12870; OOtrace for emergency PLA repairs; OOproto for try-on prototypes; OOlib for printable accessories; OOcare for humanitarian lens recycling; and Vision Minute for consumer directory listings. While the software subscription is available worldwide, the required Bambu Lab P1S Combo printer must be purchased separately. A representative confirmed at SILMO that there are no current plans for an Australian launch or local distribution. Industry partners include major French chains such as Krys and Alain Afflelou.
