ZVA and Supervista AG settle dispute confirming registration duty for Brillen.de branches

The legal dispute between the Central Association of Opticians and Optometrists (ZVA) and Supervista AG, operator of Brillen.de, has concluded. A settlement reached before the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court clarifies that under German trade law, the physical branch where a customer undergoes measurement remains subject to registration requirements. This applies even when refraction procedures are conducted remotely. The agreement resolves the conflict regarding the regulatory status of Brillen.de’s operational model, establishing that remote execution does not exempt the local facility from handwerksrechtlich relevant obligations.
