OpinionWay study for Groupe Afflelou finds vision and hearing neglected by French parents and youth
Vue et audition, "grandes oubliées" de la santé des Français, selon une étude OpinionWay
A July 2026 OpinionWay survey commissioned by Groupe Afflelou reveals that vision and hearing are not health priorities for most French respondents. Among 1,017 parents of children under 18 and 1,003 young adults aged 18–34, only 16% of parents and 15% of youth consider these senses a priority, ranking them below diet, sleep, physical activity, and mental health. Despite 88% of parents and 89% of youth acknowledging screen and headphone risks, habits remain unchanged. Vision checks are more common than hearing tests (91% vs 75% among parents). Key barriers include wait times, proximity, and cost; 30% of parents and 32% of youth reported skipping checks due to financial reasons in the past three years.
