Aynak Inc. Recruits San Diego Participants to Test AI-Enabled Hearing Eyewear Prototypes
Can Eyewear Close the Hearing Gap?
Aynak Inc., a startup incubated at the University of California San Diego Qualcomm Institute, is recruiting San Diego-area participants to test its AI-enabled hearing technology embedded in eyewear. The company plans to distribute approximately 35 prototype pairs through local optical stores before the upcoming holidays, with a second distribution scheduled for January 2027. Founder Ramesh Chandrasekhar aims to address the hearing care gap, noting that about 15% of U.S. adults report hearing trouble, yet roughly three-quarters have never used hearing aids. The prototypes use multimodal sensors and on-device AI to enhance speech clarity in noisy environments without sending sensitive data to the cloud.
