Xpanceo Partners With Contamac to Advance AR Contact Lens Manufacturing

Xpanceo has partnered with Contamac to advance the development and manufacturing of augmented reality (AR) contact lenses. The collaboration aims to adapt Contamac’s established ophthalmic device manufacturing processes to support Xpanceo’s display and optical technologies, focusing on longer wear comfort, optical quality, and scalable production. Both soft and rigid lens options are being explored using standard geometries. A prototype utilizing a rigid lens demonstrates how stable structures help maintain precise positioning of display components without external devices. The companies employ a proprietary encapsulation method to integrate components directly into the polymer, ensuring clarity and preventing surface irregularities. Testing continues on various polymer formulations and curing conditions to achieve uniform integration while preserving component positioning.
