A web-based survey conducted by Norstat for pharmaceutical company Santen across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland (May 8–21) reveals that 55% of Swedish parents with glasses-wearing children believe their child’s myopia impacts school well-being. Additionally, 45% reported effects on academic performance, while 23% noted impacts on sports and leisure activities. The study highlights significant knowledge gaps: 66% of respondents were unaware of long-term risks associated with high myopia, such as retinal detachment or glaucoma, and 57% did not know about methods to slow progression. Opticians were the most common information source (52%), followed by ophthalmologists (40%). Approximately 500 parents of children aged 0–18 were interviewed per country.
