IOT launches Light-Form technology to manufacture personalized progressive lenses in seconds using volumetric photopolymerization

Spanish company Indizen Optical Technologies (IOT) has unveiled Light-Form, a manufacturing technology that produces personalized progressive lenses in seconds via a single light flash. Presented as a world first, the method uses volumetric photopolymerization to form complete ophthalmic lenses directly within photosensitive resin, eliminating traditional layering, surface generation, and polishing steps. The initial commercial application launched in Spain through a partnership with Visionlab, a chain with 109 points of sale, making it the first distributor globally to offer lenses made with this process. IOT reports that the method reduces energy needs by 90% and waste production by 76% compared to conventional techniques, though these figures are manufacturer-provided data regarding the manufacturing process. The company is also exploring possibilities for direct in-store fabrication to decentralize production.
