Essilor Varilux Integrates Living Intelligence AI into XR Series Progressive Lenses

Essilor has incorporated its new 'Living Intelligence' system into the Varilux XR series progressive lenses, shifting from static AI models to a dynamic approach that continuously updates lens designs based on real-world visual behavior. The process involves four stages: capturing real-life vision data, using AI for predictive modeling, continuous evolution through feedback loops, and in-store personalization via precise measurements like FIT and CVC. Cyril Guilloux, Director of Optical Design at EssilorLuxottica, explained that this update increases the dataset volume by 60% and improves the accuracy of near-vision zone positioning. This enhancement aims to provide users with sharper detail, smoother transitions between distances, and faster adaptation, ensuring the lenses remain relevant as digital screen usage and multitasking habits evolve.
