Bausch + Lomb Names Interim CEO as Saunders Departs
Bausch + Lomb announced that Brent Saunders stepped down as CEO effective October 12, 2026, with Thomas J. Appio appointed as interim CEO. The company stated the departure was mutually agreed upon by Saunders and the board, though no reason was disclosed. Appio, who became chairman of Bausch + Lomb’s board in August 2026, will continue serving as CEO of parent company Bausch Health, a role he has held since 2022. He previously served in leadership roles at Bausch + Lomb, including president of its international business. Saunders had led Bausch + Lomb since 2023, marking his second tenure after serving from 2010 to 2013. Prior to this, he was CEO of Allergan until its acquisition by AbbVie in 2020.
