EssilorLuxottica plans to open ophthalmological clinics in Italy as part of a strategy to become an integrated med-tech platform. The project begins with a test phase through a new company named "Essilor Eye Clinic," leveraging previous investments such as Optegra (70 clinics and diagnostic centers in Europe) and Signifeye (15 clinics in Belgium acquired in late 2025). A spokesperson confirmed that the first pilot clinic will open in Milan, while explicitly stating no similar deployment is planned for France due to different regulatory frameworks and organization models in Nordic countries. This approach contrasts with Hoya's earlier attempt in France, which was abandoned after practitioners resisted the integration of medical care with optical distribution.
