A key addition is the "Smart Tech" special area, dedicated to smart eyewear, wearables, hearables, and connected technology. Director Cathleen Kabashi emphasized that this initiative aims to bridge technology providers with industry professionals to create concrete solutions rather than abstract visions. While positioned as an international event for optics and design, the core market remains the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Other highlighted areas include "opti Spheare," "Tomorrow Vision" for contact lenses, and expanded design stages. The strategy also incorporates support for startups, talent, and business succession through dedicated formats.
