LEINZ introduces 3D-printed eyewear collection combining transparent and opaque volumes
LEINZ stellt innovative 3D-gedruckte Brillenkollektion vor
Designer Beate Leinz has presented a new LEINZ eyewear collection featuring a combination of transparent and opaque volumes. The frames utilize a custom-developed interlocking system created through 3D printing, where solid temple arms appear to break through the transparent front. Technologically, the collection employs two additive manufacturing processes: the front is produced via high-resolution DLP printing using light-transmitting acrylic resin that is polished for transparency, while temples are manufactured using SLS with solid polyamide. This approach allows for both delicate transparency and structural stability. LEINZ states that unused resin remains in the build chamber for subsequent prints, significantly reducing material waste. The company claims the collection’s CO₂ footprint is over 90 percent lower than that of conventional acetate frames. Small-batch production supports flexible color options and minimizes inventory levels.
