HOYA Vision Care Specialist Outlines Progressive Lens Selection Criteria for Presbyopia Management
Especialista explica as características desse tipo de lente e o que deve ser considerado para garantir conforto, adaptação e proteção ocular
In July 2026, ophthalmologist Celso Cunha, a consultant for Japanese optics company HOYA Vision Care, detailed considerations for selecting progressive lenses to address presbyopia, which affects approximately 43% of the Brazilian population according to IBGE 2025 data. Cunha explained that progressive lenses offer smooth transitions between distance, intermediate, and near vision zones, unlike monofocal lenses. He recommended prioritizing digital surfacing technology, such as Hoya’s Amplitude lenses, alongside UV protection, blue-light filters for screen users, anti-reflective coatings, scratch-resistant finishes, and photochromic options. The specialist emphasized that routine habits influence comfort and adaptation, urging consumers to seek trusted opticians for proper lens centering. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of regular eye exams to detect silent conditions like glaucoma and cataracts early, ensuring appropriate visual correction at each life stage.
