Snap announced that actor Robert Downey Jr. has joined the company as an honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer (CCEO) to promote its upcoming SPECS augmented reality glasses. In this role, he will guide customers on using the see-through devices and help shape new Lens experiences and original content. While a previous rumor suggested a $100 million deal, the exact financial terms remain unconfirmed by Snap. The appointment aims to increase general audience awareness of AR technology. Separately, leaked specifications from SammyGuru indicate Samsung’s upcoming smartglasses, developed with Google, will feature a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, 2GB RAM, and a 41-gram weight, positioning them lighter than current Ray-Ban Meta models.
