Susie Sendel, an eyewear specialist and founder of the Susie Sendel Agency, advises optical practices to balance patient appeal with profitability when selecting frames. She recommends analyzing office demographics and lifestyle needs while avoiding generic collections that trigger pricing competition. Sendel suggests mixing timeless styles with design-focused options and dedicating 15 to 20 percent of board space to independent designers to differentiate from local competitors. To manage inventory risk, she advocates starting new collections with a dozen frames to track sell-through rates before expanding. Additionally, Sendel emphasizes equipping staff with brand knowledge and craftsmanship details to confidently sell designer items, noting that understanding the story behind a collection enhances customer loyalty and transforms the optical into a destination rather than just a retail point.

A federal judge certified a class action against Hubble Contacts on October 15 in Africa v. Vision Path Inc., filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The case covers qualifying California residents who purchased Hubble Classic Daily lens subscriptions starting April 25, 2019, without prescriptions. While court records identified over 95,543 purchasers during the period, not all qualify. Allegations include brand substitution and improper verification; certification is procedural and does not establish legal violations. Hubble disputes the claims and intends to defend the case. This lawsuit is separate from a 2022 FTC settlement where Hubble paid $3.5 million ($1.5 million civil penalties, $2 million redress) for similar issues. Concurrently, the FTC seeks comment on extending Contact Lens Rule information-collection requirements for three years, proposing no substantive changes.

During the Q3 earnings call on October 21, 2026, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a strategic realignment for Reality Labs. The division will prioritize investments in personal artificial intelligence and smart glasses, specifically developing the Muse AI assistant, while limiting new virtual reality device releases to instances of significant technological advancement. In 2026, the Muse Spark neural network replaced Llama 4 in most smart glasses. Financially, Reality Labs reported $443 million in Q3 revenue, a 5.7% year-over-year decrease attributed to lower Quest sales partially offset by smart glasses growth. Operating losses narrowed by 6.8% to $4.129 billion. Projections indicate full-year 2026 operating losses of $18–19 billion, expected to drop to approximately $15 billion in 2027 due to this investment redistribution.

Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the manufacturing friction of integrating prescriptions into AR glasses and skepticism toward claims that $100 component costs are necessary to reach 100 million units.
